Over the years, we've made some compromises and she has never forced me to completely stop playing and did what she could to quell her frustration. She claims it makes me somewhat of an adolescent in her mind sometimes which comes from a bit of a misnomer of video games in general and the stigma of the industry to the general public. I'll be the first to admit, I probably play a bit too much but my wife also admittedly gets irrationally unnerved by it. Been married for 5 years now and I constantly get hassled for playing video games. This makes taking out waves of enemies much easier.Video games have always been a pain point for my marriage. Still, if you want to at least try to power through the rest, I recommend using a cheat code to (I'll spoiler tag this, just in case) get early access to Spyro's super-powerful "dark" mode that he normally only gets at the very end during the final boss. Sadly, it doesn't get any better, especially once you make it to a boss that most fans consider to be one of the worst in the entire franchise. IMO, it's easily the worst of the three games. In any case, starting off with Eternal Night was definitely a mistake. To their credit, the game at least poked fun at how the character's voice kept changing. For the third game, he got ANOTHER voice actor Wayne Brady (Whose Line, Let's Make a Deal, etc). Billy West (Fry, Futurama) then took over for the second game, but I can't remember if he did a good job or not.
David Spade (Kuzco, Emperor's New Groove) voiced him in the first game, and by how flat his performance was, you could tell he was just there for a paycheck. Having him voiced by a comedian should've at least helped make the character charming, but even that didn't turn out so great. His new character design is, in my opinion, simply ugly. I'm not sure what the heck happened to Sparx. There's not much I can add that others haven't already said, but I can comment on a few things you mentioned.
